- Responsible for effective and efficient law enforcement duties with knowledge of Federal/State Statutes and County Ordinances.
- Complete investigations, testify in court, make felony and misdemeanor arrests.
- Perform duties with regard for the safety and protection of others.
- Maintain conduct in accordance with Department Policy and Procedure.
- Serve as acting Sergeant in accordance with Sheriff’s policy as needed.
Deputy - Lateral
County Security Aide
CSA’s are full-time employees* that will earn $16.46/hr.
- A CSA is an entry level position for those wanting to become Deputies but do not yet meet the minimum requirements to do so.
- A CSA assists deputies on patrol with traffic accidents, towed and abandoned vehicles, and delivery of paperwork.
- The CSA program allows CSA’s to learn about the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office policies and procedures prior to applying and entering the Academy as a Cadet. No minimum employment time required before applying to the Academy.
- Must pass a physical agility test
- 1.5 mile run– Minimum 14:24
- Push-ups– Minimum 20 in 1 minute
- Sit-ups– Minimum 32 in 1 minute
Court Security Specialist
- $29.70/hour ($61,776/Annual)
- Thirty (30) year retirement
- State of New Mexico Public Employees Retirement Association
- Municipal Plan 3
- Provide protective services for judges, court personnel, and other individuals attending the District County legal proceedings.
- Direct and advise the general public and court personnel about security procedures established for the courts and promote the understanding and compliance with safety standards developed to ensure the welfare of the people.
- Escort prisoners during court proceedings using approved security methods and ensure that proper behavior is maintained.
